Design & Files

Updated 2026-01-08

This guide helps you prepare files and images in your current project to achieve more stable engraving results. Follow the steps—no technical background required.

Supported File Formats

  • Images (for engraving): JPG, PNG, BMP
  • Vector graphics (for scribing/contours): SVG
  • 3D models (for relief/3D machining): STL

Recommendations

  • Choose clear, high-contrast images with a prominent subject and crisp edges.
  • Keep file size moderate; avoid overly large or tiny files that affect preview/import.
  • If you change material or design style, re-preview to confirm the result.

How to Improve Poor Image Quality for Engraving

Source Control

  • Use clear originals: even lighting, distinct subject, simple background.
  • Avoid overly compressed images or images with heavy noise.

Simplify and Emphasize

  • Crop to retain key areas; remove unnecessary complex backgrounds.
  • Increase overall contrast moderately to make edges clearer and levels more distinct.

Preview and Small Tests

  • Preview in the software to inspect details and edge rendering.
  • Run a small-area test; proceed to full engraving after confirming results.

How to Prepare Photos for Laser Engraving

Choose Suitable Photos

  • Clear subject and clean background; avoid clutter and strong reflections.
  • For portraits, choose soft lighting with clear facial details.

Simplicity and Contrast

  • Crop and simplify to highlight the subject and reduce irrelevant elements.
  • Increase overall contrast and tonal separation so outlines are easier to recognize.

Confirm the Result

  • Preview edges and shadow rendering in the software to ensure details are visible.
  • If results are not ideal, replace the photo or adjust the composition until satisfied.

How to Generate Relief (STL) from Images

Image Preparation

  • Choose images with clear levels and strong contrast; keep the subject clear and edges clean.

Generate and Review

  • Use the entry Generate icon: a cutter above a wavy surface in the software to generate the effect and review the preview.
  • Check whether height transitions are natural and edges are smooth; replace the image if necessary.

Start Engraving

  • Once satisfied, generate toolpaths and start engraving.

  • Submit your issue through the feedback portal in the user center. Include your operating system and browser, device model, connection method, and any prompts shown when the issue occurred.
