Safety Guidelines

Updated 2025-11-03

This guide helps you carry out engraving or cutting safely and reliably in the current project. Follow the steps—no technical background required.

Safety Precautions for CNC and Laser Engraving

  • Keep the area safe: Ensure good ventilation and a clean, clutter‑free workspace; keep away from flammable, explosive, or highly reflective materials; use a stable surface with the device secured.
  • Personal protection: Wear safety glasses (especially around laser equipment); wear protective gloves when handling materials; avoid loose clothing and dangling accessories.
  • Proper operation: Confirm the emergency stop is disengaged before starting; never leave the machine while it’s running; keep hands and objects out of the motion range.
  • Materials & files: Use files and materials from trusted sources only; confirm patterns are clear with crisp edges in the preview; run a small test when uncertain.
  • Area management: Keep children and pets away from the workspace; have appropriate fire extinguishers ready; keep exits and pathways clear.

Handling Emergencies

  • Stop immediately: If you notice smoke, unusual odors, abnormal noises, or sparks, pause or stop the job at once.
  • Disconnect power: Turn off the device immediately; unplug if needed; keep a safe distance.
  • Move to safety: Evacuate personnel to a safe location; avoid close observation or contact.
  • Respond & seek help: For open flames, use suitable fire extinguishers; never use water on electrical fires; contact your device supplier or professional support.
  • Record details: Preserve information (time, materials, pattern, abnormal behavior) for troubleshooting and feedback.
  • Confirm safety: Do not restart or continue until hazards have been eliminated.

Can Children Operate the Machine?

  • Not recommended: Engraving/cutting devices carry risks and are unsuitable for children operating alone.
  • Strict supervision: If near the device, children must be under full adult supervision and kept at a safe distance.
  • Safety education: Explain device risks and safety rules to family and companions to prevent accidental contact.

Can It Engrave/Cut Metal?

  • Use caution: Most home or light‑industrial devices are not suitable for metal processing and may cause strong reflections or hazards.
  • Follow manufacturer guidance: Rely on official device instructions; if metal processing is not explicitly supported, do not attempt it.
  • Alternatives: Prefer suitable non‑metal materials (wood, acrylic, leather, etc.); if metal is required, consult professional equipment/services.
  • Validate with samples: For uncertain materials or processes, first verify safety and results on a small scale.
